My Visit to Cold Stone Creamery (Orchard Central)

This was from way back in late March when Cold Stone Creamery first opened and I was so excited to try an authentic ice cream from the US, but somehow it slipped my mind and it’s taken me months to write about it. I also wanted to rave about it but couldn’t quite as I had chosen a flavour, peppermint chip, which I found too sweet and didn’t quite wow me. The peppermint was a bit too strong for me but I did enjoy the brownie chunks.  I should have gone with a plain vanilla base and added toppings we don’t normally get in Singapore like the Reeses peanut butter cups. I do get weak for cookie dough as well.

Thought it was a great marketing ploy to place stickers on the floor leading up to the store, that might otherwise have been hard to find. It might also have enticed you even if you were not particularly thinking of ice cream.

The colours were all so enticing and pretty. I have never had blue or orange ice cream before.  How boring was I , when there were so many options. I guess when I don’t know what to pick, I always fall back on something with chocolate in it.

The concoctions were mixed in front of us.

The place is huge and you can sit outside by the fountains.

  1. This makes me remember my first time at Cold Stone. I even remember what I got! It’s called ‘Founder’s Favorite’ and it has a bunch of deliciousness in it. I remember not even being able to finish the small size because it was so sweet, but it was still great a few days later from my freezer!

  2. In the US, at Coldstone, the workers sing fun songs together while they make your treat. We go there only for special occasions as it’s a bit pricey.
Glad you have one near you!

We didn’t get the fun songs when we were there, but I guess they had just opened then. Also I think Asians are more reserved so we hardly get singing counter staff.

Wow, that is awesome. Does the Cold Stone Creamery in Singapore have any peanut butter flavour? Or even cookie dough? Or chocolate hazelnut flavour? Ice cream rocks!

I used to love Coldstone in Tokyo. The servers would sing songs to entertain the customers while we wait in the queue.

Those pictures look delicious. We have another thing in common is that we love Reeses and don’t get them easily. I have a friend who has also lived in Italy and she sends me the small cups for Christmas. I try to have them last but I just love them so much. I do actually just DIP my chocolate in my peanut butter. I don’t know if you have ever seen that commercial but there was one for Reeses when we were growing up where they say “You dipped your chocolate in my peanutbutter.” and the other replies, “No, you’ve dipped yout peanut butter in my chocolate.” I’ll have to find you a clip if I can. Still, with the summer upon us I’m trying hard to concentrate on healthy food, though I LOVE my ice cream. I’ve been making food shakes from everthing fresh, including vegis and fruits.

    Take care my friend.

US sweets tend to be more sugary, the population like their snacks sweeter than others. I am importing in a range of soft candy, lauching soon! But it’s the same thing, they tend to be on the sweet side

  7. TwK says:

hey, thanks for the praise, I got no songs when I was there too :S
Maybe next time i might get a song, but the ice cream is pretty good 🙂

These ice cream stores look cool and more than once I’ve thought of trying some. But seriously, the ice cream doesn’t whet my appetite at all. I can’t imagine adding more sweet stuff to already sweet ice cream.

That they’re one of the few places to have reeses peanut butter cups to mix in make it a favorite for us!
