This post is from the walking and photo taking as we walked along Kandahar Street, after we had a yummy Nasi Padang lunch at Minang.
Loved that this yellow car was parked across this yellow building in Kampong Glam. The yellow building houses a restaurant called Tepak Sireh Restoran serving traditional Malay cuisine. It’s not just a building but a yellow mansion which was built way back in 1860. Couples have their weddings here as well. When we were there, it was pouring as you can see. I recall eating a buffet meal at this restaurant about a decade ago.
Luckily we had an umbrella, but it was one of those sudden downpours that ended as quickly as it started. What we like to call a passing cloud.
Heard about the Rich & Good Cake Shop which is at 24 Kandahar Street. Would love to try the cakes one day. Nothing like the scent of freshly baked cakes. Saw this review where the swiss rolls looked so moist.
I thought this cafe with the pink tablecloths was so pretty. This was at 38 Kandahar Street.
It’s so glamourous inside. I thought it looked more like a photo studio and googling indicated that it is indeed a photo studio as well.
Lola, a fashion store for ladies, is at 40 Kandahar street and you can check out their Facebook page here.
Pretty shop space for rent.
The old door and green windows of this lovely heritage shop at 54 Kandahar Street reminds me of what we used to have at home.
I find the bottle green window so pretty and authentic.
Just look at the intricate design within. This was exactly what we used to have. It’s so 70’s Singapore. It’s hard to imagine that a simple shophouse like this now goes for 4.5million Singapore dollars. Mind blowing how our property prices have skyrocketed.
And a shop for all your fishing equipment needs.
Hot Spot at 56 Kandahar Street.
Black against white is very attractive to me. Simple and stark.
In Kampong Glam it’s hard to know when one street ends and another begins so I appreciate this beautiful sign at the end of Kandahar Street.
