Dim Sum at Crystal Jade

We keep returning to Crystal Jade because of the unpretentious service and good quality dim sum.  Also even though we were only a party of two they didn’t stick us in some corner or in between a bunch of people.  Some other restaurants do that.

My two favourite things on the menu are the char siew pao and the carrot cake. The jasmine tea goes perfectly with this meal. I didn’t quite care for the egg yolk and custard pao, but my partner thought it was interesting with a combination of duck’s egg yolk and custard for a savoury, sweet flavour. Dim Sum comes in a set of three. If I had liked the dessert I would have taken two pieces, but since I didn’t, I made my partner have the remaining two. I am bad that way.

Mmmmmm that egg yolk custard bun is calling out to me. It seems to be the fashion to have it runny now (the best way to eat it in my opinion)!

I love bao and the radish cake (I don’t know how to spell ro-po-gao). And the stuff with the big wide white noodles! I want some right now!

The white noodles sound like Udon – Japanese noodle soup I love 🙂 The flat white noodles are Chinese and is called kway teow. Both of these dishes come in clear soup form. Kway Teow Soup is a real healthy dish to have.
