Singapore’s Most Famous Bloggers and the Ones I Read

Hi there. Thanks so much for dropping by. I’ve moved to Singapore Actually

Hope to see you there 🙂

*************************

Dawn Yang is a pretty young blogger who sued Wendy Cheng and they both hit the headlines a few years ago. I think it was because Wendy accused her of plastic surgery and such. Dawn has a doll like face and seems to be located in New York at the moment.

The most famous male blogger who’s closer to my age and whose posts I enjoy, is Mr Brown. His posts about his children are the most endearing. He is also very brave when he makes political commentary. He says things many people want to say, but dare not.

And then there are the most famous food bloggers, who are in a category of their own:

{Image: Leslie Tay}

ieatishootipost, by Dr Leslie Tay features mostly affordable, unpretentious hawker food. Pretty refreshing I must say. Most doctors tell us to stay away from all hawker food except for popiah – how boring and unreal! He’s even just written a book on hawker food.  It’s no wonder he seems to get the most number of hits – 300 000 hits a month.  In terms of content and traffic, he’s definitely a top blogger.  I find myself checking his blog every time I want to look out for the best hawker food at a certain location.

Lady Iron Chef, Brad Lau who takes gorgeous food photos. Recently he became famous due to being embroiled in controversy with a restaurant called Private Affairs, but as details emerged all I could think of was that’s one restaurant I’m not going to patronize. I am so impressed that he makes hawker centre food look like something you would find in a glossy coffee table book.

Even our expats hit blog stardom.

Angry Angmoh is Singapore’s most famous expat blogger who gets 100,000 hits a month. He’s a 26 year old expat from Germany. Read his article about 5 things you’ll miss if you’re an expat in Singapore. I am not an expat, but I agree that imported fruit like cherries are too expensive. A box costs S$15 which I suspect is more than double the cost.

But you know what? The Singapore blogs I love reading are the ones, written by women, on my blogroll. They are not famous (yet), but they totally engage me. Listing them out here as well. Go check them out!
