Singapore’s Newest Mall: Braving the Human Crush at Nex (Part 1 of 5)

The news has been reporting that the carpark design is terrible, and that people living around the area are upset by the traffic jams. It also seems like it’s practically impossible to get in. I was crazy and bored and we decided to take the challenge and see how bad the human crush could be. Time to be a true Singaporean and brave the queues. Just kidding. No way was I gonna queue. Now that I have no more Facebook, this is the best way to share photos with my family.  Nex is a mall they are pretty curious about, but they don’t want to join the stampede.  For me, it’s just another day in urbanville and blogging makes me do things I wouldn’t normally care to.

In order to appease customers who drive here there is now some kind of lucky draw and you’re given this plastic thingy to stick on your car. It points you to alternative parking spots around the area. If I can’t get a spot at the mall itself, I don’t think I would want to bother though. Imagine lugging groceries all the way to the nearest carpark outside the mall. It’s better if you just take the MRT (subway) here.

Don’t know if this helps. But this is sort of a guide to, where to park.

Now get ready to see a tenth of the Singapore population at one place. It’s also the school holidays, so the kiddos don’t have to stay home and study. Singapore kids have their heads buried in their books. I should know. I used to be one of these poor unfortunate souls and the pressure gets worse every year, so actually I should count myself lucky to be out of that pressure cooker.

We wondered why the store’s logo was blue and not red.

Packed to the brim, at Carl’s Junior. No hope of a seat.
