Happy Birthday Uncle

I wanted to wish my dear uncle (A) a Happy Birthday today, but the whole day long I just could not find the words. It’s because he’s so special that what I write just seems trivial and does not capture how much he means to me and the whole family. I don’t think many people have uncles like ours and in that way we are very blessed. I recall a couple of times when we called him in the middle of the night because we had locked ourselves out and he came with his tools to remove the door knob. That was just one incident…there were numerous more. He’s always coming to our rescue.

He does so much for everyone that I think we all take him for granted and really need to appreciate him a whole lot more. The thing is he doesn’t expect any thanks, because he just loves helping people and is so generous that way. Sometimes I just want him to take a break and enjoy himself, which thank goodness he’ll be doing very soon. I hope he really enjoys his upcoming exotic vacation.

Happy Birthday Uncle
You mean so much to me
When I was little you lifted me to glimpse at planes and
when I was older you lifted flagging spirits
and always cheered us on

I hope you have a joyful birthday
And I just wanted to declare
We’re a whole lot better, because you’re
always there

Now I’m thinking
I should have copied a poem from the internet
but I didn’t want to plagiarise
so I hope you’ll forgive me

for this corny poem
Cos you deserve much more
But I know you’ll take this little gesture
and to you, and you alone
it’ll sound a million times better

Wow that is a wonderful poem. If I am your uncle I would be touched to bits. You are indeed blessed to have such a wonderful uncle in your life. Did you plan something special for your uncle’s birthday?

thank you so much…just didn’t want the day to go by without telling my uncle how special he is. We had a dinner at Wan Hao and I’ll post the photos of the food soon 🙂
