Lately, juggling two blogs has given me a spilt personality. Sometimes I just get confused and I don’t know at which blog to put up a post. I’ve always intended to continue blogging at the paid domain, but I just could not let go of this old faithful WordPress.com blog. I find that I prefer writing about things I have experienced, like sucky workplaces and wonderful travels within this tiny island and outside of it. I enjoy posts that are useful to the reader and require some research.

I was wondering whether to pay for a transfer of all my posts (one time fee) or whether to pay for a redirect (yearly fee), but maybe I’ll just move them all slowly, the manual way. I feel like such a cheapo. But really it’s because I’m a control freak. Also, I feel crappy for already paying for the domain and not making a cent out of it (I’m kinda lousy in that department and just want to indulge in writing). Well I’ll try the manual thing till it gets too tedious and I say heck it and pay for the WordPress Happiness Engineers to do the job.

One advantage of the manual transfer is that it will force me to confront my bad writing and do some editing – finally. It will also be fun to look at old posts and decide what the keepers are.

Right now I am going back to my very first now non-functioning blog from 2006 and slowly transferring posts to Singapore Actually. They sound so silly now, but I enjoy re-experiencing these old memories.

Every year there’s an enticing array of mooncakes at all the malls around this time – the Mid-Autumn or Lantern Festival. I overheard a tourist at Vivo say, “I sampled them all, now there’s no need to buy any.”

I would recommend the one at Vivo, having seen the more cramped versions at Centrepoint and Bishan.

It’s nice to take an evening stroll, soaking in the ambience of Joo Chiat, as dusk approaches. Loads of old world charm to be experienced, amidst the more controversial prostitution going on around the bar areas. Definitely not a boring place, but try not to stare too hard.

Tin can collection at the coffeeshop made quite a pretty sight, but it’s a hard job for a few dollars. The realities of affluent Singapore, where there are people who struggle. There is no safety net of a welfare system and they have to depend on charities.

The car park next to the coffeeshop and the striking green minarets of the nearby mosque. Green is a significant colour in this area. In Muslim culture, I think it signifies nature and life. Please correct me if I’m wrong. Would love to learn more.

The coffeeshop has an elegant name – Eastern Wind Foodhouse. The ham baguette cost us S$4 and the bread was toasty and crisp. The pho and spring rolls which cost S$6 each were also as authentic as you can get in Singapore.

I like these no frills places sometimes, where all you care for is really good food. The Vietnamese waitress was very polite and there were many Vietnamese customers as well and we had to wait a while for a table.
