Hi there. Thanks so much for dropping by. I’ve moved to Singapore Actually
Hope to see you there
Nasi Padang is something B loves. I like to have this once in a while when I’m hankering for Malay style rice with all sorts of curries, which is what Nasi Padang is. More accurately, Nasi Padang is an Indonesian dish with rice and all sorts of meat and vegetable dishes and I can’t believe that I have yet to try this in Indonesia. Specifically it’s from Padang in the west coast part of Sumatra.
B had to queue for at least 15 minutes for this Nasi Padang at the highly popular Minang at Arab Street just opposite the beautiful Sultan Mosque.
Maybe because I didn’t have to queue as I usually just sit to chope the seat, that this is the best nasi padang I’ve ever had. Another reason is I don’t eat beef and B found the Beef Rendang dry. For him the Nasi Padang at Zion Road remains the undefeated champion. He also didn’t like that there were stingy with the chicken curry here at Minang and he had to beg for a bowl of it.
I still think the taste was out of this world and I find the gravies at Zion Road too dilute in comparison. I love how the various curries blend together like the chicken curry and the sourish sweet spicy Assam fish gravy. SO good.
If you want to try it, you can’t miss the distinctive red and white building opposite the Sultan mosque. There’s perpetually a long queue.
