Fish Mart Sakuraya

B had the green cold noodles which you dip in a sweet sauce. I tried it once and realised that I possibly could acquire the taste for cold noodles. It has a refreshing taste and the noodles are al dente.

I find this dish quite beautiful to behold. When your dish looks attractive, it adds to the dining experience because dining for me includes the other senses besides just taste, especially the smells and visual appeal. I must remind myself not to eat junk, essentially treating my body like a garbage dump, because that would be just a waste of calories when you could spend it on meals you can savour, like this one.

My favourite sushi is inari with tuna but they just had the plain inari sushi here.

I had the udon which is a thick spongy noodle in a clear plain soup. The noodle is the highlight of this dish. The fish cake is dyed with a pattern and again it’s all about presentation and visual appeal.

My photo came out too blurry – shucks! The fresh fish looked gorgeous although I don’t eat raw food and I tend to just go for the starchier cooked sushi and noodles.

A very pleasant place that just feels clean and spacious. Japanese restaurants always have that beautifully pristine touch even if they are casual dining places like this one.

It’s a grocer store too with lovely Japanese products.

There’s a little shop on the higher floor of West Coast Plaza selling Japanese products as well.
